This is an incentive based position, which may include bonuses, incentive, or commission plans.

In partnership with the Resident Engagement and Resident and Family Engagement teams, the Director, Resident Engagement Development & Technology creates and leads strategic resident engagement and well-being initiatives that enable seniors to live well and position the Company as the leader in the industry. Oversees Resident Technology engagement-analyzes partnerships, plans for integration, seeks innovation opportunities.


  1. Develops and ensures integration of resources to support company’s strategic goals from the engagement and well-being perspective.
  2. Maintains expertise in trends and research in the aging field and senior living as it relates to engagement and well-being.
  3. Creates and maintains Brookdale’s engagement resources, including signature programs based on resident interest, current research, and partnerships- to support resident well-being.
  4. Partners with internal and external customers related to resident engagement and well-being.
  5. Oversees the Resident Technology team and sets strategy for resident technology and partners with the Innovation workgroup.
  6. Leads the resident technology team to evaluate potential innovation partners and plans for pilots and integration.
  7. Helps to set measures and develop business case for technology solutions.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required –preferably in gerontology, nursing, social work, recreational therapy or other health care related field, but others considered based on experience. Minimum seven years’ experience working in a senior field, including experience with technology solutions for seniors.


Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements

Uses independent judgment to establish procedures and overall strategic direction that may affect a community, multiple communities, industry sectors and/or functional disciplines. Solves the most complex problems that require understanding and evaluation of impacts on the organization.


Knowledge and Skills
Possesses extensive knowledge of professional disciplines and maintains extensive theoretical business and industry knowledge. Provides overall leadership and direction to the business at the regional or divisional level. Extensive knowledge, interest, and demonstrated ability in wellness initiatives for senior populations. Commitment to maintaining and enhancing the dignity, quality of life and optimum independent functioning of older adults. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and team building skills. Computer knowledge is essential. Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and manage simultaneous priorities.
