Under general direction, responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the company’s information technology systems. Leads and assists in the execution of business application development projects and subsequent support of those applications. Focus on system and application administration.


  1. Works with other IT staff and/or business users as required, ensuring support of their business objectives.
  2. Supports and leads testing of application programs and systems within the company's system/regression test environment.
  3. Performs analysis and design and other systems development life cycle (SDLC) tasks as required to support project objectives.
  4. Adapts to and utilizes the appropriate technology within the company's existing architecture, development tools, and standards. Including technologies used on the ERP, Healthcare and Operations Applications teams.
  5. Performs and leads the administration and management of the application/server infrastructure and ensures optimum performance levels.
  6. Recommends technical solutions and helps set technology direction.
  7. Serves as a liaison between other technical groups.
  8. Schedules and leads installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  9. Ensures server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
  10. Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
  11. Supports the identification and resolution of application and technical issues.
  12. Assists in the change management process, and adheres to the defined change management guidelines.
  13. Contributes skills to affect team’s success. Supports other project teams and co-team members as appropriate.
  14. Understands advanced project management concepts. Guides others in the estimation process. Manages technical sections of the plan.
  15. Communicates effectively, verbally and written, with manager, peers, business customers, other IT teams and company leadership.
  16. Provides after-hours support as needed.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a science related field is strongly preferred and a minimum of seven years of Systems Administration/IT experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements
Any relevant certifications are preferable but not required.

  5. Team player who performs well in a fast paced environment.
  6. Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, documentation and troubleshooting skills.

  8. Able to manage a small project start to finish.
  9. Advanced understanding of relevant Brookdale business practices and processes.
  10. Able to identify and anticipate issues and perform advanced level troubleshooting techniques with no direction from manager or peers.
  11. Able to assist others with problem resolution and delegate as appropriate.
  12. Proficient with specific skills in IIS, VB, JavaScript, and VBScript.
  13. Knowledge of general network infrastructure technologies, past experience of Document Management Systems, Fax Servers, and Workflow tools helpful.
  14. Expertise with Oracle and SQL Server DBMS, Essbase, XSL, HTML, SSRS, MS Access and MS Office.
  15. Experience with mobile application deployment and management through an MDM solution.
  16. Expertise in ERP/EMR technologies and system administration concepts.
  17. These could include management of web servers, application servers, process schedulers, security administration, installations, web services, integration technologies, etc.
  18. Working knowledge of project planning tools that could include Microsoft Project, Planview, etc.
